Numele ei este Anghel Ana Alesia ( http://aaa-alesia.blogspot.com/ ) si are doar 1 an si 9 luni.
La varsta de numai 4 luni a fost diagnosticata cu SMA1 – Amiotrofie Spinala de tipul 1, cea mai grava forma a bolii (
http://psilvia.go.ro/Amiotrofie%20spinala.htm
).
http://medicine.utah.edu/neurology/research/swoboda/videos/SMA_Respiratory.htm

You’ve already collected over 800 business signatures!‏

Businesses for a Safe Climate
In just one week over 800 businesses have added their names to our "Businesses for a Safe Climate" petition! They’ve come from all over the country and include everything from restaurants to record labels. People just like you have signed up their own businesses, while others have hit the streets and collected signatures from businesses in their communities. It’s been an impressive and inspiring show of support for real solutions to global warming.

But I believe that if everyone lends a hand, we can easily double that number. Here’s why it’s important: In addition to listing all of the businesses that sign the petition on our website, we’ll use these signatures at rallies across the country in August to show Members of Congress that there is broad community support for effective, science-based global warming legislation.

Here’s what you can do to make sure it happens:

  1. If you own a business and haven’t yet had a chance to sign on to the petition, please take a minute and do so now.
  2. If you have friends who own businesses, send them this email and urge them to sign up.
  3. Don’t own or represent a business? No problem. Download the toolkit and start recruiting businesses from your community today.

It’s time for our politicians to stop hiding behind the myth that taking real action on global warming would hurt small businesses. It’s Congress’ inaction that’s hurting the business community and all of us, now and for generations to come.

The time for action is now,

More wild weather in the forecast‏

WE CAN SOLVE THE CLIMATE CRISIS

According to a new report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), climate change will likely lead to an increase in extreme weather in the United States. That means more droughts, heavy downpours, excessive heat , and intense hurricanes. Not good.

We hope to alert 100,000 people to this NOAA report within the next 48 hours. If each of us tells 5 people, that’s within easy reach. Please use our tell-a-friend tool to help educate your friends and family about this critical issue.

The report projects:

  • Abnormally hot days and nights, along with heat waves, are very likely to become more common.
  • Droughts are likely to become more frequent and severe in some regions.
  • Hurricanes will likely have increased precipitation and wind.

We will need everyone’s voices to solve the climate crisis, starting with yours. Start a conversation today.

Sincerely,

Cathy Zoi

Yesterday, the Financial Times declared: "G8 leaders ready to backtrack on Africa aid."

It is inconceivable that the G8 could consider such a reversal, especially in a time when increasing food prices are making it ever more difficult for families to make ends meet. But the final decision hasn’t been made yet, and we have a critical opportunity to influence the outcome.

Please tell the G8 to deliver on their promises:
http://www.one.org/international/g8/o.pl?id=387-241187-cpxw26x&t=3

Petition text:

We call upon you to build on recent success in fighting extreme poverty by delivering your commitments on healthcare, agriculture and education and by helping citizens in developing countries in their efforts to improve governance and fight corruption.

This potential reversal comes at a time when we are seeing results from investments in development. For example, thanks to distribution of bed nets and increased access to antimalarial drugs, in Rwanda both deaths and cases of malaria have dropped by two-thirds since mid-2006.

As malaria still kills around one million people a year, it’s clear that we must replicate success stories like this. But it won’t happen if the G8 backtrack on their commitments.

Please tell the G8 leaders not to backtrack on aid:

Tokyo 2: We STILL need your help‏

3 iulie 2008

ACTION ALERT
Free the Tokyo Two

Dear Friends

You’ve all done FANTASTIC work sending letters to the Japanese government demanding the release of the Tokyo Two — we just passed the Update number 185,000 mark! That’s more than 14,000 protest emails sent to Japan ‘s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister every day since Greenpeace Japan ‘s whale activists were arrested.

But, the court has ruled that Junichi and Toru, arrested in Japan for exposing corruption in the whaling industry, can be held without charge for the maximum 23 days allowed under Japanese law. We need to increase the pressure on the Japanese government now if there is any hope that we can get them released soon.

Please read on, we’ve got a message from Japan and a list of things you can do to help some more.

Message from the front line

Junichi asked us to send you the following message:

"Thank you everyone for your support and vigilance over the last days . Thank you to the Update number185,000 of you who have sent the email to the Japanese Government asking for our release, and those of you who have sent it to your friends. We have heard from our lawyers about how many emails that have been sent, and it reminds us that we are not alone. Thank you also to those who mounted peaceful protests and vigils at Japanese Embassies around the world calling for justice for myself and Toru and justice for the whales. It helps us to know that so many are thinking of us and of the fate of the whales.

We STILL need your help. We have been ordered to remain in custody for a total of 23 days — the maximum allowed under Japanese law — without being charged with any crime.

Please encourage your friends to send an email if they have not already. Keep watching for news from Greenpeace of more actions you can take and make sure that the global demand for our release and to investigate the whale meat scandal we exposed, is heard loud and clear here in Japan.

With hope and thanks

Junichi Sato, Whale Campaign Coordinator Greenpeace Japan

More things you can do to help

Here’s a few of the things you can do to help increase the pressure on Japan to release Junichi and Toru:

  1. Send this message to five friends – just hit "forward" now and email it.
  2. Vote on Reddit for the article about Junichi and Toru, and send it to your friends
  3. Put this link in your email signature or instant messenger status: http://www.greenpeace.org/tokyo-two (and thanks to all of you who spotted the typo in our last message!)
  4. Put a banner on your website or blog, or the code for the action itself: you’ll find materials here
  5. And for your friends that like games — send them Mister Splashy Pants to the Rescue — our online game in which the world’s most famous humpback returns the favour, and saves the whale activists who saved him

All the best,

The Greenpeace Whales Team

Breaking news: whale actiivsts jailed in Japan‏

ACTION ALERT: Activists arrested
Demand their release
Junichi Sato, arrested for exposing the theft of whale meat from Japanese taxpayers
1. Free the activists

URGENT: Greenpeace whale activists arrested in Japan

Two Greenpeace activists who exposed a whale meat embezzlement fraud in Japan — Junichi Sato and Toru Suzuki — have been themselves arrested — for allegedly stealing the whale meat that they turned over to police as evidence.

Demand the Japanese government free the activists

This is the backlash. We’ve uncovered a scandal involving powerful forces in the Japanese government that benefit from whaling, and it’s not surprising they are striking back.

What is surprising is that these activists, who are innocent of any crime, would be arrested for returning whale meat that was stolen from Japanese taxpayers. Theirs are, to date, the only arrests that have been made in the Tokyo public prosecutor’s investigation into the embezzlement we documented of millions of yen worth of whale meat.

This was not a police action — it was an intimidation tactic by the government agencies responsible for whaling — and the kind of harassment of whistleblowers that a modern democracy should not allow. Our first news that an arrest was imminent came from Japanese television stations. Someone leaked the information to ensure images of Greenpeace activists in handcuffs appeared on news reports in Japan.

More than 40 police officer raided our offices and the homes of the activists, and spent 10 hours seizing cell phones, documents, and computers, despite the fact that we had documented every step of how we obtained the whale meat, turned the full dossier over with the evidence, and made ourselves available to police to help with the investigation at any time. A simple phone call could have brought Junichi and Toru to the police station. Instead, the government made a public spectacle of shutting Greenpeace down.

Don’t let Japan shut down the truth. Demand the release of Junichi and Toru and demand an end to the whaling programme in Japan. The corruption of a few bureaucrats who profit from whaling should not be an excuse for harassing those who have exposed it. The domestic and international shame which this scandal is bringing on the Japanese agencies responsible for whaling is just one more reason that Japan should stop its sham scientific whaling programme in the Southern Ocean forever.

Please, take action now and pass this message along to your friends. Let’s get Junichi and Toru back with their families, and demand the real criminals go to jail.

Thank you,

The Greenpeace whale team

ARESTED IN JAPAN

26 iunie 2008

Greenpeace
  Dear Pacurar,
Arrested for exposing the truth

You already know that, year after year, Greenpeace activists put their lives on the line to protect whales. Today, two of our activists are sitting in jail in Japan for their undercover work to expose a stolen whale meat scandal in Japan last month as part of our campaign to save the whales.

Following a four-month undercover investigation, we broke the news last month of a major scandal involving the embezzlement of whale meat from the Japanese government-subsidized Southern Ocean whaling program. Our activists handed over a box of whale meat as evidence of the whale meat smuggling operation, and the Tokyo public prosecutor agreed there was sufficient evidence of wrongdoing.

But early this morning in Japan, our Greenpeace office was raided and two of our activists were arrested. Junichi Sato, 31, and Toru Suzuki , 41, are being investigated on charges of stealing a box of whale meat that they had presented as evidence in the smuggling case.

Take Action >> Stand by Junichi and Toru by writing the Japanese Prime Minster immediately.

By Japanese law, our activists could be held without charges for up to 23 days. Our activists are innocent of any crime. They have been arrested after returning whale meat that was stolen from Japanese taxpayers and for exposing a fraud that may reach high into the Japanese government agencies that run the whaling program.

To make matters worse, rumors are flying that the prosecutor will soon announce his intent to drop the smuggling investigation, even as our activists sit in jail for exposing the truth.

On the eve of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) meetings, I hope you’ll support our activists and the whales they are working to protect. And I hope I can count on you again next week as the IWC meetings commence, and the Japanese government makes its annual attempt to lift the moratorium on commercial whaling.

In solidarity,

John Hocevar
Oceans Campaigner

Take Action
Write to Japan’s Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda and Foreign Minister Masahiko Koumura to demand the release of our activists.

Tell a Friend
Forward this message to a friend. Help spread the word and get our activists out of jail.

Business as usual?‏

26 iunie 2008

Greenpeace
  Dear Pacurar,

Businesses for a Safe Climate
Oil companies like Exxon have been denying the impacts of global warming for years. Yet scientists have painted a clear picture of what will happen to the planet if we don’t take immediate steps to stop global warming, and now economists are predicting dangerous consequences for the business community as well.

Local businesses have an important role to play in getting Congress to take action. To make sure Congress knows that local businesses across the country demand real action on climate change, we’re launching the "Businesses for a Safe Climate" petition.

To make this a success, we need YOUR help. Here’s what you can do:

  1. If you own a business or represent a business , check out the petition and sign your business on today.
  2. Don’t own or represent a business? No problem. You can help recruit businesses from your community!

We’ll be tracking all of the businesses that sign the petition on our website, and we’ll be using these signatures at rallies across the country in August to demonstrate to our Congressional representatives that there is broad community support for effective, science-based global warming legislation.

Members of Congress need to hear from every member of the communities they represent. Make sure the businesses in your community are heard, start collecting signatures today.

Thank you,

Ben Kroetz
Greenpeace Online Organizer

You might have heard the recent news about several businesses calling on the G8 leaders to address global warming.

Unfortunately, their plan is rather toothless: it calls for a mere 50% reduction in global warming emissions by 2050, and even that target is not binding but "aspirational."

Let Congress know that there are businesses who support REAL global warming solutions!
